Your Place or Mine - Cape Town- Michaela Strachan
Your Place Or Mine - Episode Eight - Michaela Strachan
Life goal complete. I have done podcasts with two of the main presenters of the The Really Wild show. (not Howie or Nicola). I got to talk Tyrannosaurus Rex with Chris Packham on Terrible Lizards and now I get to learn all about living in Cape Town with Michaela Strachan.
I have a family connection to Cape Town, in that my great great (great?) uncle was the only man selling wagon wheels (not the biscuits) there in the mid 19th Century. So when the Boers did the great trek up to the Transvaal, it was thanks to him they could get there… not that that resulted in the finding of diamonds, gold and kicked up the second Boer War a few decades later…
Aaaanyway, I got to ask her about Dassies and the unique and diverse environment that is Table Mountain. We also got to sip wine and find out about a story involving a camera crew, a wale and a tv presenter on a bed… not sure if that will make the cut.
What is clear is that Michaela is a knowledgeable and passionate advocate of Cape Town, she even met her fella on Table Mountain. Coming up against that kind of passion for a place is almost impossible.
I don’t think Shaun fully understood the extent of the spider situation, nor the irritation of having no electricity for hours a day, but it did make a fun episode.
I do hope you are enjoying these! Only two more places left this series…
Do please tell us what you thought of the show - and if you enjoyed it, leave a review and share it with your friends.
