Lateral LIVE (ep 167)

I appeared on Lateralcast podcast with Tom Scott,

19th December, 2025 • I was performing alongside Ria Lina and Alasdair Beckett-King, facing questions about selfless speeding, donated dots and Clapham curries.

Recorded at the Clapham Grand, London, as part of the Cheerful Earful festival.

Great seeing Ria and Alasdair again. I first met Ria at the Edinburgh Fringe back in 2002! She was in the finals of many a stand up competition and playing a ukulele. I recall gigging in dodgy rooms above pubs with Alasdair before the end times too. I’ll say this again for those at the back, Tom is exactly as you would expect him to be, charming, overworked, funny but what is suprising is his height. He is tall. Almost my height. This wasn’t the first time we’d hung out but his stature always takes me slightly off guard.

Needless to say it was very hard not to be totally filthy during the recording. The crowd were demanding it, but I think we managed to keep the rails on. Just. Very odd playing to a packed out theatre on a Sunday lunchtime.

We all went to the pub afterwards of course. Tom is quite the collector of nerdy and interesting online creators. Check out the selfie I took if you don’t believe me.
