It was a pleasure talking to  Venetia Porter, curator of Reflections: contemporary art of the Middle East and North Africa, about the fascinating stories found within this new display of works on paper.

What labels are used to describe art? How does calling art ‘Islamic’ or ‘political’ damage our understanding?
