Egyptologists' Notebook

Iszi

I chat to Dr Chris Naunton about the hidden stories found within Egyptologists' notebooks.

The history of Egyptology as a subject is rather a troubling one. It does throw up some surprises however. Some revolting, like British explorers buying women from slave markets and some fascinating like the man (Athanasius Kircher) who published several translations of hieroglyphs… which were entirely wrong.

This is a great subject of exciting characters… including one Mohamed Ali.
