Salma El-Wardany: Cairo, Egypt

I’ve always wanted to go to Cairo for the Museums, but Salma did a good job of opening Shaun’s eyes up to the more modern treats awaiting those travelling to Egypt’s capital.

I did go on a bit of a rant about the Pyramids, but it always irritates me when we underestimate our ancestors abilities. Really what the pyramids demonstrate isn't incredible engineering or technology but absolutely incredible teamwork. However they managed to place the blocks (man power and sand ramps most likely) or cut them without iron or steel, the point is they must have had tens of thousands of teams working on them under a central administration. It wasn’t ‘slave’ labour as hollywood depicts but rather an incredibly unified society that worked together for the benefit of the Pharaoh and ultimately of all. After all, without the Pharaoh, Ma’at would be in disarray, there would be no order, chaos would reign, the floods wouldn’t come and everyone would starve…

Anyway, I’m off on a rant again… there isn’t too much of it that made the cut this week (I hope, for all our sakes!). Find out if Salma can convince Shaun that Aliens didn’t do it ;).
